WHAT IS CHITOSAN?
Chitosan is obtained by deacetylizing chitin. With different degrees of deacetylation and molecular weights, chitosans are a large group of substances with different properties and applications. Across applications, it is favoured for its non-toxicity, low allergenicity, biocompatibility and biodegradability
Chitin at a minimum deacetylization level of 70% is considered to be chitosan. The monomer (single unit) of chitosan is D-amino glucose.
